Privacy
This notice explains what personal information this website collects, why, and what your rights are. In short: the only information I collect is what you choose to send me through the contact form, and I use it only to reply to you.
Who I am
This site, octavianmicugames.com, is run by Octavian Micu, an independent game designer. For anything related to your data, I am the person responsible (the "data controller"). You can reach me at octavian@octavianmicugames.com.
What I collect
- Contact form. Whatever you put into it: the contact detail you give (an email address, a handle, or a website) and the content of your message.
- Technical data. My hosting provider automatically records standard server information such as your IP address, browser type, and the time of your visit. This happens for every website and is used to keep the site running and secure.
- No tracking cookies. This site does not use advertising or analytics cookies. It stores one small setting in your browser — your light/dark theme preference — which stays on your device and is never sent to me.
Why, and on what basis
I use the information you send through the contact form for one purpose only: to read and reply to your message. The legal basis is my legitimate interest in responding to enquiries, together with your own choice to contact me. Server logs are kept by my host on the basis of their legitimate interest in security and reliability.
How I use it
Only to respond to you. I do not sell, rent, publish, or trade your information, and I do not use it for newsletters, marketing, or profiling. I will not use your message for anything other than the conversation you started, unless you ask me to.
Who else is involved
To run the site and receive your messages I rely on my hosting and email provider, Hostinger, which processes and stores the email on my behalf. Your message is sent over an encrypted connection. No other third parties receive your information.
How long I keep it
I keep the emails from the contact form only for as long as I need them to handle your enquiry and any follow-up — generally no longer than 24 months — after which I delete them. Automatically generated server logs are kept for the shorter period set by my host.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to ask me to: give you a copy of the data I hold about you; correct it if it's wrong; delete it; restrict or object to how I use it; or provide it in a portable format. To use any of these, just email me at octavian@octavianmicugames.com and I'll respond within one month.
If you believe I've handled your data improperly, you also have the right to complain to a data protection authority — for example the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens in the Netherlands.
Where it's processed
Your information is processed within the European Economic Area. If that ever changes, I'll update this notice and make sure appropriate safeguards are in place.
Children
This site is not directed at children, and I don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16.
Changes to this notice
If I change how I handle your information, I'll revise this page and update the date at the top so you can see when it last changed.
